Enter the Dr PRP separation kit. The latest in medical innovations.

DR MAUREEN ALLEM introduces a novel medical kit designed for PRP separation that is not only fast and efficient, but undertakes to deliver effective results.

American businesswoman Anne Sweeney (president of Disney Media and the Disney Channel) once said: “I’m naturally curious, and I’ve always been driven by my curiosity. Curiosity gets people excited. Curiosity leads to new ideas.”

At Skin Renewal, we can identify with this – and in the exciting field of aesthetics, we get the opportunity to inspect and evaluate the tremendous developments to stimulate our curiosity.

The phenomenon that is PRP

PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections have recently been highlighted in the media, specifically for aesthetic procedures. This unique and innovative procedure

has earned it nicknames such as the vampire facial and Dracula therapy. Most recently, Kim Kardashian posted some post treatment pictures and, as a result, PRP is fast becoming a celebrity must-try treatment.

Now at Skin Renewal, all our clients can experience the same celebrity treatment, as we have just launched our PRP procedures with the Dr PRP separation kits.

How it works

The PRP treatment stimulates cellular proliferation and tissue regeneration to dramatically accelerate healing, making it a very effective age prevention and age correction treatment. Additionally, it is a very safe procedure; since the platelets come from the patient’s own blood, there is no possibility of infection or other side effects.

To develop a PRP preparation, blood is drawn from the patient and mixed with an anticoagulant. The platelets are then separated from other blood cells, while their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation.

What is involved?

To develop a PRP preparation, blood is drawn from the patient and mixed with an anticoagulant (citrate dextrose A) to stop the blood from clotting. The platelets are then separated from other blood cells, while their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation. With regard to the type of anticoagulant to use, most authors agree on not using EDTA because it could damage the platelet membrane.

Therefore, anticoagulants with citrate and dextrose of sodium citrate are recommended.

ACD-A is better at preserving the platelets unactivated.

Meanwhile, the quality of the PRP is dependent on the baseline platelet count of an individual, the device used, and the technique employed.

At Skin Renewal, we have specifically chosen to work with Dr PRP’s kits and equipment, due to the unique double centrifugation protocol. This results in super concentrated PRP, which in turn yields superior post-treatment results. We also give our patients the option of treating the neglected areas – such as neck, décolleté and hands – all in one complete procedure.

Key points

PRP helps restore and enhance the skin in areas that require additional help, such as crows’ feet, sagging jowls, smoker’s lines, forehead lines and general signs of ageing. It considerably improves skin texture and tone, thereby giving one’s skin a healthy appearance.

The end result is leaving the patient looking more youthful and rejuvenated.

The collagen rejuvenation that occurs can take from 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the condition of the patient’s skin and lifestyle. However, more than one treatment will be necessary if the skin is mature. All in all, two to five treatments will help results last up to 18 months.

Aesthetic procedures easily done with PRP treatments

Wrinkle improvement Fine wrinkles, eye wrinkles, wrinkles around mouth, forehead wrinkles.

Skin pores and elasticity Reduction of skin pore size, improvement in skin elasticity and skin tone.

Combination treatments Where growth factors are required for accelerated healing.

Other applications Improvement in hair loss, chapped skin, burn wounds, dark circles around the eyes, etc.

If you are planning to offer PRP treatments to your patients, how do you make a choice?

There are many PRP systems commercially marketed, which facilitate the preparation of ready to apply platelet rich suspensions. The system should be able to deliver PRP in a sterile manner that is cost-effective, easy to use and time-efficient. Dr PRP is a medical kit designed for fast and efficient PRP separation and is now available in South Africa.
